Has anyone devised an easy Tool/method of repacing the pump impeller on a centre cockpit installed Perama diesel. The problem is that there is only 4 inches approx between the front face of the pump and the front face of the engine compartment which is all below cockpit floor level. It all ready has a quick change front plate and it took me over an hour to replace the impeller last week.
Hi Dave. I have a similar installation on Kala Kai. I bought a 'Speedseal' kit a few years ago and it makes life a lot easier. It consists of a new front plate, 'o' Seal and large screws that can be tightened by hand. Cost today is about £40.Website is http://www.speedseal.com
Hi Dave , sorry but I didnt read the end of your post. Impatient as usual. To get the impellor out I use some pliers that have a fine end at 90 degrees to the handles. If you are not worried about damaging the impetllor I have found a screwdriver will lever them out, but watch you dont scratch the pump bore. Pete
