Hi everyone. My name is Patrick Dowman. I have just bought the Heavenly Twins Mk4A 'Voile La'. I am taking the risk and renaming her 'Emily', I hope this does not upset the original owner.
I am downsizing from a 36 foot Tangaroa and am wondering what best to do about shipping a dinghy and installing a sprayhood. I would so glad if anyone can give me advice on these matters. Has anyone installed davits? How do people carry a dinghy if davits aren't present. How important is a sprayhood? Obviously nice to have one, but are they essential sailing in rough water. Best wishes to all.

Voile-la will have her name recorded by Poseidon in the “Ledger of the Deep”. It is absolutely critical you do NOT change her name until you have undertaken the correct ceremony to ask permission of Poseidon. You should not re-name her until ALL recordings of her current name are expunged from the boat. The new name should NOT be brought aboard until this has been done and the ceremony carried out to the exact detail.
“Poseidon keeps track of every vessel on his waters. His Ledger of the Deep is said to contain records of every vessel’s construction, owners, routes, cargo—and, of course, its name.
Mess with Poseidon’s Ledger by renaming your boat, and you ensure all manner of disasters and bad luck.”
The simple point being that if you change the name it will not be in the Great Ledger so Poseidon will not be able to keep track of her and ensure her safety

This might help but there are other sources of information.
I have heard that having a virgin pee over the bow helps but with a cat you would have to find two which seems highly unlikely nowadays.
Good luck…lovely boat
24th February 2015 at 9:20 am #12096Hmm. Serious stuff. Fortunately I am a good friend of Poseidon having swum with him on several occasions. (He told me he preferred 'Neptune' for the time being, not wanting to suffer alongside the Greeks and their intention to levy new taxes and clamp down on corruption). Nevertheless, I shall certainly defer to his requirements on the renaming of boats. All I need now is advice on davits and sprayhood. Issues of relative insignificance, I grant.

25th February 2015 at 9:46 am #12098Hi Patrick and welcome to the world of HT's,
We used to have a Narai.
We have davits on our HT and find them very useful. Shouldn't be a problem fitting them as long as you strengthen inside the deck/hull. As for a sprayhood we wouldn't be without one in our climate! You have the option to also add a full cockpit cover for harbour use which gives you more dry space. As with everything on a boat it's a compromise – shelter or extra windage – your choice:)
25th February 2015 at 10:00 pm #12099Thanks so much for your help. I have ordered some davits. Is there a good place to buy a sprayhood that you know of. I'd like to know more about the full cover option. I live aboard my boat for much of the year.
26th February 2015 at 7:38 am #12100Hi Patrick
Very pleased to see that you are taking the re-naming business with all seriousness. I spent a little time with Salacia…swimming etc etc..but Neptune caught wind of things so to speak and I had to beat a hasty retreat to safer waters. I think it would be highly desirable to conduct, with due reverence, the ceremony on and around July 23….Neptunalia.
re. other minor matters..davits we have them on already…fixed with reasonable strengthening..would not do without them as lugging a tender aboard is a pain in the a***…however I have done so for'ad between the hulls successfully. We have a OW so I would think pulling a tender onto an HT would be easier as it is closer to the wet stuff.
Where are you based? You might try poking around other members boats if they are close by.
26th February 2015 at 9:18 am #12101Patrick,
Re cockpit covers you could speak to Ian at Crystal Covers– 023 9238 0143.
They are on the South coastHe has an HT so should be able to help. If you are living aboard then would certainly recommend the full cover.

26th February 2015 at 1:20 pm #12102Patrick Voile La used to have a tan coloured sprayhood and all the framework to go with it, including the all over cockpit cover. Previous owners (after me) used the boat in Greece and found they didn't need it much of the time, so converted to a lightweight bimini just to shade them from the sun. The little used sprayhood should be with the boat somewhere, probably buried. Good luck. If you;d like to become a paid up member of the Association, you could contact me for joining forms. See the contact us buttons for that. Cheers. Chrissie
