this is a quote from a friend of mine posting in another forum.
he is intrested in tracking the owner with a view to buy.
does any one know anything about this boat? Jumelle
you can contact me on vanpraag@hotmail.co.uk

“I then remembered that there was an HT in a very sorry state on the Exeter canal about 1 mile from my house, so we took the dogs for the walk to the end of the canal where there is a nice pub which is run by an old school friends elder brother who I know very well, the pub is not open all year because it is a good walk from any where really, although there is a little track down to it but this is only to be used by the pub owner and for deliveries (some pictures attached), so it gets busy in the Summer as it is in a beautiful spot and quite unique.

Well I asked Clive (the pub owner) about the Heavenly Twins who confirmed that it had been left there for about 3 years in the fresh water and that he thinks the river/canal manager, a guy called Jack Nott who I used to crew for in my dinghy racing days, has been trying to trace the owner (with no success) as he owes a few hundred £'s for berthing fees and wants the boat removed.

So today I phoned Jack in the morning to buy the boat by paying off the dues, he says he will try one last time to contact the owner and then if no joy he has to put it up for tender in the local paper.”

Phil there was an HT in that area that came across from Ireland had engine trouble and was left. The Harbour Master assumed that the owner would return with parts to collect it within a short time. That never happened. I don't know why, maybe the cost was just too great. I'm not entirely sure if this is the smae vessel, but I think it is likely. Hope this helps.

          Hi All,
My first post here, I am the guy that 'Makika' who started this thread on my behalf regarding the HT 26 named 'Jumelle'.
I went down yesterday to have a closer look and try and pump her out a bit as the bridgedeck at the stern is only about 2″ above the water and I think she should be about 15″ above the water.
Well I pumped for about 20 minutes and she rose by about 2 inches which at least raised the exhaust outlets out of the water.
I had a peek inside and the water level was nearly half way up the engines, the linings were hanging, the seat cushions were very damp and mildewy also by feeling just below the waterline there was evidence of Osmosis with bubbling.
All the locker hatches are and doors are ruined, the genoa is shredded, the mainsail could be saved, I think, but she does have a pair of very nice Lewmar 30 ST's, which is about it.
To have the engines removed, acid bathed, stripped down is going to cost about £3000.00, it will need new batteries, electrics, soft furnishings, probably new sails and electrics basically a very complete re-fit, I reckon in pricing things up it may cost up tp 10k and possibly slightly more and a lot of hard graft and time, there is also some soft spots on the decking where I assume the plywood has some water ingress.
Is she worth doing up and if so how musch does anybody think she is worth in her current state.
If it was not for the fact that I live very close and can get access to her I would not even entertain the idea as the travelling costs would out weigh any possible long term benefits.
I would love to hear from anybody and their opinions.
