Hi, I have been having problems with the mounting arrangements for my 9.9 Yamaha 4 stroke engine (the white one). The removable transom in the engine well did not stay locked solid with the two wedges, which were inclined to pop out. So I fitted two door locking bolts which have held the transom ridgid when in forward gear, but cause the bottom of the transom to move backwards about an inch, when in reverse, with the top of the transom staying fixed solid. I am concerned that repeated forward/ reverse actions, will overtime, cause the whole tansom to deteriorate or even disintigrate.
How do other mk 1 owners go about resoving this problem? Any suggestions would be welcome.
