Interesting. By 1990 it could be at least a Mk1V (lots of useful but subtle improvements incorporated). The hull on ours and others I've seen does flex in certain limited places. On a heavily laid up 1970's boat you wouldn't get it for sure. Also the HT has far less woodwork inside (look at the inside of a monohull and it's usually covered in lockers and stuff, all of which stop the hull flexing). In my limited understanding, cat's get their structural integrity in different ways to monohulls, the rigging being a much more important provivdor of hull strength than on a monohull. Good luck with the project, they make truly great boats.
