Sailing from Stockholm to Helsinki on our Scampi 30 monohull (at the time) we ended up in gale force winds and a quickly building sea with breaking crests. The Scampi 30 is an ex. 1 Tonner world-champion design based boat and it handled the waves very well, feeling at times like a little Laser gliding down the wave pattern… We were driving the boat hard. How would the HT27 behave in such conditions?

The other real bad weather I experienced was in front of the Brazilian coast near Rio in the 80s sailing a small 23 foot mini tonner. We had extremely quickly a big building sea and triple reefed main, tiny jib, going to windward to Rio. The little boat handled the wind and waves well. Again, what would one do in these conditions with an HT27.
