I will try to dig out the drawings. I know that the newer ht's with the square doors had more mast plate sag issues than the original arched doorway. There was an owners inprovement done to several where the wooden internal door support frame was upgraded to alloy box channel to help the issue. From memory i believe that Yes at mast base there is a heavly laminated plate which combined with the aft bulk head and roof curvature give the strength to support the mast. On mine i have added a stainless steel plate between the mast foot and the fibreglass plate with angle brackets on the underside of the roof onto the aft b/head.
