At Thornham marina is HT Star Shadow. She has a frame work for raising and lowering the engine and it does away with this board and wedges arrangement.
If you are near to Thornham Marina (home of Multihullworld) you could pop down and view the arrangement. You would need to revamp your existing engine cover arrangment to cope with the increased height when the engine is raised. However it may be taller but it can be made slimmer giving more space in the cockpit around the base and sides.
