Hi Guys,
Rod Odell (HT CATS PAWS) has done two modifications to the rear of the boat.
The first was to build a platform between the two aft ends of the hulls, out as far as the ensc of the rudders (no increase of boat length when the marina man calls with his measuring stick). This give much more space and stowage area on the aft deck. He has also increased the stowage area further by removing the rudder bar from above the deck to below the new platform.
The advantage of this over an internal bar is that a) he had all of the parts to do the job and b) is it not so noisy in the aft cabin and C) you do not lose any room in the aft cabin by having to box in the cross bar.
I have been in touch with him by email and am waiting for him to send me some photos and measurement s for both jobs. If and when they arrive I will email them to you.
Another modificationwas carried out by Robert Blood on “HT Cool Change). This was for a solid Bimini and he has posted details in News Letter No 68 Spring 2006. It is on my list for consideration and instead of Marine ply and Epoxy sheathing I am considering using 5 or 6mm upvc foam panels, with a stronger 10mm centre panel, to walk on to sort out the sails. Obviously they will need the same wooden re-enforcement as his. I am a signmaker and use these panels in my business. They are strong and should be a lot lighter that marine ply and epoxy ( I can also get them at a price that is very nice!)
