      Hi Everyone,
I have purchased a 1990 HT27 but it is some 3000 miles from where I live . I am going to renew all the soft rigging (rope) on the boat but I do not have the sizes diamiter of the various halliards and sheets. I assume the soft rigging on the boat now is all standard original sizes.
Can any one please tell me what diamiter and lengths i should order for; The mainsail halliard. The foresail Halliard. The genoa sheet. Topping lift (if there is one) .
What is the hight/length of the mast.
What diaamiter is the anchor rope.

Also I want to renew the old morse steering cable from the wheel to the cross arm rudder conecting bar.The one on the boat may be the original.
What has happened is that where the end of the morse attaches to the cross arm rudder bar there is a large alloy nut that retains the orange colour outer cable to the push pull part and it is worn and no longer retaining the inner pus pull bar , its all moving and not operating the rudders. So I think I may replace the whole thing.
Can any one give me the correct part number or size for a new morse cable used on the HT27. It will save me a 3000 mile journey just to take a look.
Is there any new updated method to use in place of the morse cable.

Down below in the cabin is a brand new 125W ridgid solar panel unused. Has any one any idea where on the boat one would install this as there are few flat surfaces and no davits. Or do you think I should discard it and buy flexable panels. I am unable to ask the previous owner his intentions because hes passed away.

I am going to install an new outboard. Currently it has a merc 9.9. Would owners recomend another 9.9 or upgrade to a 15, 4 stroke . Would the alternator on the outboard be enough to replace charge to the start battery.

Any information will save me a 3000 mile journey, just to measure up prior to ordering.

      Cheers
      Roy

        Hi Roy

Lots of questions there !  I will try to cover some — I have a Mk. III HT and I would say that all the ropes – sheets and halyards are going to be of different lengths and diameters than yours. A different size mast, and the jib sheets I believe are sheeted to a single winch on the cabin top. Where as mine are sheeted to winches either side of the cockpit. So I would suggest that you buy a complete drum of rope and then you can then cut it to the exact length needed when you are onboard.

Don’t forget that you may have  — main-sail halyard, jib halyard, topping lift and spinnaker halyard. Also you may have a inner forestay with a small jib ?  more sheets and halyards!

I use 14 mm anchor plait nylon .

Some of the more modern HT’s might use hydrolic steering, but I do not have any info on that.

There a number of choices for outboards, the main thing to choose is a “high thrust”  i.e. a large slow revving prop. The Yamaha 9.9 has always been a favorite.

Hope that has helped in some way.
