I just received a couple of questions via the “Contact us” page so I’m copying them here if anyone can help.
HT Spray hood or Doghouse
Hello, I am thinking of buying a 78 HT which looks in good condition,
but lacks a sprayhood or Doghouse. Do you have any idea how much these
items cost? It has just been fitted with a Yamaha 9.9 outboard, high
thrust prop, long shaft. Does this limit me to coastal cruising, or
would a silette leg be better?
Thanks for any help
Neville. And the second question is –
Mast lowering
Hi, I’m looking to buy a HT 26 Mk IV. I will need to transport it by
road. How easy is it for 2 or 3 guys to lower the mast or is it a
crane job? Any info would be very welcome, many thanks

Allegro III has an 8hp Yamaha o/b and it hasn’t stopped me clocking 55,000 miles of ocean sailing. But it’s a real pain maneuvering into/out of marinas. !There are some forum posts that may be of interest –

Mike8th July 2016 at 12:55 am #12231Spray hoods – quotes this year 2016, south coast England, varied from £800 to £1100 plus VAT. This was just for canvas, not frame! So, very expensive. That said, IMHO, an HT without a hood, sailing in the UK, is not a good idea (unless you like a lot of water in your face).
