    Hi Ryan,
Chrissie asked me to look at your Polar info request. You have explained it well. I doubt anyone has related the HTs performance to Polar info before. I can see the theoretical benefit , however with todays weather patterns that are not relating to historical patterns I seriously doubt the value of the answer you might recieve. Long distance HT sailor Mike Dwyer said of the north Atlantic crossing, His best days run was about 120M and his worse was about 20M Therefore the average speed for the crossing was somewhere in between! That is the reality of long distance sailing. You might hope in an HT across oceans to get somewhere near 3 or 4 knts as an average if you have a good run. The big sister the 38 Ocean Twins gave us 5.25 knts as an average. Good luck with your program. Regards Geoff Linter
