    Hi Bill,

I too have moved my batteries into a new box that forms the starboard step. Dimensions are roughly the same as Juup's. I also built a new gas locker inside the port cockpit locker.

It is made out of 10mm Foam PVCu, screwed together and sealed with silicone. It is also vented outside through the topsides in the vicinity of my bilge outlet. I made the box moveable by containing the sides with 3 rails of 10mm x 20mm foam PVCu. One rail is fixed so that the box cannot move forward and the other two are on opposite sides of the box, allowing it to move backwards and forwards up as far as the front rail. I made a lid for the box and will complete this with neoprene foam seal and a couple of Protec catches. Apparently the overflow outlet should be in 12 to 19mm pipe. Unfortunately mine is in 6mm so at some time I will have to modify it. The box will take 2 camping Gaz bottles.

Where did anyone read about, or have sourced the non metallic gas bottles?
