Just looked at the new Multihull Centre website and cannot find any reference to building any of Pat's designs.

Whereas I haven't heard of any builds since the last couple of Twins 36, has this sad day really passed without being marked, or have the plans secretly been sold to Poland (or China) for re-birth?

Any info from those in the know on the south coast would be gratefully received.

The business has be bought by Darren Newton of Multimarine Composites and Dazcat fame. He was based around the corner in Millbrook but took over the Multihull Centre earlier this year. Pip and Debbie have gone sailing! I believe they still hold some small interest but only in the yard. I am going down tomorrow and will ask about the moulds etc and whether there are any plans. I suspect that with the designs and manufacturing systems now being largely superceded this will be the end. My guess is that there is no money in making small cats at least in this country. I am currently watching them build a large Broadblue…base price £1mill…before fitting out….gulp!

Talking to Darren at the Southampton boat show, he said it wasn't worth building anything for less than 200k.
I think this excludes most of Pats designs!

I think many of us were aware that the moulds of the HT were destroyed some while ago, apparently, academic as it is, without permission The moulds for the OW33 were stretched and used for the ST34 and all other moulds are still around including those done for the OW33 hull extension.

Nevertheless however good the designs were at the time they have been superceded so regardless of cost there is no reason to build new ones, sadly. As one example, GRP usage has developed so the central keels are used in 70/80's design are no longer necessary. As with motor cars it is more profitable to build bigger ones so I fear the likelihood of anything under 30ft being built commercially is very slim indeed. As the moulds still exist they could, in theory, be used for a home build as one major inflationary cost has been labour.
