Hi,
I am looking to buy a '79 HT 26. Presently it has an outboard fixed in the cockpit, and I mean fixed, it doesn't tilt or raise plus it is 20HP..
How difficult would it be to convert to a single engine with two drives? Is there any info on this configuration as fitted to HT's?
Does anyone know of a HT that may have had this configuration that has been taken out of service or broken up?
ThanksShane

If you reference my website http://www.heavenlytwins.co.uk/ and then select “Engine Options” you will find plenty of information on twin hydraulics. We converted Distant Drummer to this configuration 4 years ago and havn't looked back since.

Thanks for the link.
£16,000?
That is more than I am buying the boat for!
I think I am being persuaded toward a monohull!

Stick with the outboard and add a bow thruster for extra manoeuvrability. A lot cheaper then the hydraulic set up and you still have two hulls ! 🙂
27th January 2013 at 5:21 pm #11997Hmm, thats an option I guess. Is there a comprehensive guide such as Bruce's conversion to hydraulic?
I am making my decision this coming weekend, its down to the HT 26 or a Seamaster 925.1st February 2013 at 6:32 am #12003The bow thruster idea was the clincher – I have bought Manx Cat! I shall download the form and join the association.
Thanks one and all!
Shane15th February 2013 at 9:26 am #12004Congratulations Shane,
Don't go for the smallest bow thruster. We fiited a 4HP (3kw) model and it works well most of the time but will still struggle a bit in strong winds. I am happy with it and it has made life a lot less stressful. Happy sailing and hope we get to here how it all goes!

7th March 2013 at 11:46 am #12005We fitted a 55 kg thrust model with a 185mm diameter tube through the Port bow.
