I really need a new genoa, and now is the time to buy I am told. Has anyone out there got any recommendations (or otherwise). Looking at south coast makers probably, as may want them to visit the boat – got questions about shortening the luff length to allow for a forestay bottlescrew/tensioner. On the other hand, has anyone used one of these far east sail making outfits? Any experiences gladly received.

(PS can we have a spell checker button on the posting window?)

Have heard only good things about Dolphin sails. They used to make the “up market” sails for HT27's, they are also the sailmaker for Oyster say no more sailor!!!

Crusader have a discount specifically for HT owners

Could you post here the various prices quoted, please? Thanks

I got some quotes at the London Boat Show from various sail makers – all for a HT mk4 150% headsail (aprox 303 sq ft) including a UV strip and VAT:
              Arun Sails – £758
              Jenkells – £870
              Crusader – £898
              Kemp – from £877.12
              North Sails – £1046.70

I currently have Arun on my boat so I will probably stay with them as the price was the most competitive and they spoke a lot of sence on the stall. Maybe we can get a discount if we buy together. Anyone else interested?

Good idea. Anyone else? I've sent a PM.

David & Gee Bee, since this post was last actie in Feb, I assume you've long since sorted out your sails?

If no, I'm interested – for both a foresail & mainsail (and poss some sort of stormsail).

Yes. Followed up with Arun. Very good. I shortened my forestay at the same time and there were no cock-ups from measurements I gave. Ask for Ivor. Looking at a new main now, but even more expensive with full battens! So maybe not this year.
