Hi l have just purchased a HT 27 that has had the steering removed for repair by the previous owner, as l have no access to these would any one have the correct spec or best quality of steering morse head and length of cable to order, by my measurement the cable length will be 17ft would this be correct?
Has anyone converted to hyd steering and what were the benefits if any, as l am wondering if it would be a good idea to introduce oil to the aft cabins.

I have a Mk 4a and it seems to have the same steering set up. If no one can supply the spec, I can sent you a photo of the business end if it helps. Let me have your mobile and I'll mms it if you like. Hydraulic sounds expensive to me, but if it gets rid of the knocking/play when at anchor or alongside, then I guess I could understand the rationale! Otherwise, keep it simple is what I say. Looks like the one u have failed because of a rusted fixing and not checking each season for loose bindings? On steering, I'd suggest you have double thickness stainless on the central strap on each rudder – the one tht takes the strain. Nick. Gee Bee

          Thanks Nick
As l wont be on the mainland for the next couple of weeks due to work my mobile will not available, any info/pics by email would be much appreciated, cable length would also be good this would then allow me to order all parts and fit on my return home from work.

For future reference 21ft or 6.4 meters was Fitted to Kellya.
