Who's the best insurer for a HT/cats, or are they all much of a kind? Is there any insurer to avoid on the basis of experience? I've just renewed with Admiral but they need an out of water survey every 5 years if the boat is over 20 years old. This seems a waste of resources to me, so am now considering the options for next year. Comments?

We have found Bishop Skinner to be very fair. Look at bishopskinner on in internet search. They have recently merged so if you have any trouble also try Stuart Alexander or Blue Fin.
Also Coleman's Insurance in Devon have been good in the past and have not always wanted surveys or the boat re rigged. Good luck!! Hope to see you on the water this season! Chrissie

We agree with Chrissie, we have been with Bishop Skinner, now Blue Fin, for five years and they have been very good. HT Suitengu

We have used Colemans since we have had the boat found them to be much the same in cost as others, but easy to deal with. Still always best to compare. I think next year we have to supply them with a photo of the boat, don't know why.

Which ever insurance you take up, check up about singlehanding. I recently had and altercation with the Chain Ferry up Medina River. Fortunately my damage was slight and no damage to the Chain Ferry. But since I was singlehanding and IF I had damaged the Chain Ferry, goodness know what costs I would have had to pay for.
