Just to let you know.
Our steering console was screwed to the mainbulkhead with only 4, 30mm long screws into tiny planks. Not a very convincing construction. Although, it survived 15 years without problems.
But….
So I have tapped four M6 34cm long rods into the main bulkhead and secured the console to the boat so tight that I'll never end up holding the whole thing in my hands when sailing.
