I have an ST 31 lengthened to 34. It has a dual sensor gas monitor fitted to the main switchboard. It's labelled Gas Watch No 2 but no maufacturers name. When power is switched on, the green leds light up then, after a short while, they flash. Sometimes, the greens go out and red leds light and the alarm sounds. There is no gas on.
Does anyone recognise the monitor and if so what is it telling me?
      many thanks
      Jon

Hi Jon, before we removed gas from the boat we had a dual sensor unit. I couldn't work out what the lights meant. I did discover that the sensors are ruined if they get wet. I checked ours by holding an (unlit!!!) cigarette lighter underneath with the gas coming out – the sensors went off straight away.

          Hi Jon,

Whilst I'm not familiar with the particular unit that you've described, I can advise that the gas sensors are extremely sensitive…and are easily damaged by fumes from the likes of drying paint and curing glassfibre resin. Unfortunately there's no easy way to repair them so they will need to be replaced.

I sourced replacements through the Southampton Calor centre but unfortunately their not cheep (~£30.00 each) so you may want to consider replacing the whole unit if your in any doubt about the control head.

          Hope this helps

          Bruce
