      Hello ,
      one more question.
When I am right informed, than has the HT MK 4 a solid foredeck.
Iwould like to know your opinion about Pro & ontra a solid foredeck.

      Kind regards

You might find this site helpfull. It has loads of information on twins design etc. I can't remeber whose site it is but it is very informative.
I don't think any model of the HT26 has any stoopthroughs though.

          Hi Volker,

The HT MK4 (and newer) all have solid foredecks. Earlier models had a teak grating.

Having owned both a MK 3 with a teak grating and currently a New 27…..I wouldn't say there's any problems with either approach….it's really a matter of personal preference.

If you want to check out my website (see footer)….you'll also find a couple of useful photo's and some history about the HT.

            Hi Bruce,
            thank you for your information!
I have thought that the catamaran sails safer when it is stormy and there is no solid foredeck.
Rudolf Wagner who sailed across the Atlantic first in the mid of the sixties by a 8 m Bobcat,(very nice story),
means that.I have not enough experience to assess it.
But one more question, I already asked it in the Forum, but no answer til now.
HT 27, the Hull/Deck join lifted 100mm giving height for a stoop- thru-passage ca.5 foot.
            What about the stoop-thru-passage on a HT 26 MK III ? Is it about 1.40 m ?
You wrote ,that you had both one.
Can You answer me my question ?

              Hi Alastair,
first thank you very much for your link ..topcatsail…,
you wrote me that you think there is no stoop-thru on any HT 26.
But the older HT versions have inboard diesel engines too. Where are they installed.
Has the design change from HT 26 III to HT 27 been so extremly that there is now a tunnel long 1.25 m,
and 1.50 high ? I can`t imagine that there were no tunnel on older versions.

                Dear Volker
As the 27 ihull was raised about 4 inches ( 10 cm) the stoop-thru was developed.
However if you have the twin engines installed it blocks off the pasage , so no stoop through, I think.

In the 26, the big locker under the port and stbd sides have the engines fitted the same way but lacks the extra 10 cm.

I can crawl through from saloon to aft through the lower 26 because of hatches at both ends, but it is crawl, not stoop.

                Hope this helps

                Steve

                  Dear Steve ,
thank you for your interesting news.
Do you have to crawl through the hatches or trough the tunnel.Perhaps the hatches are smaller than the tube.
To crawl means to me about 100 cm high. Am I right ?
I want to instal a TORQEEDO 24 Volt outboard which is available only with 6 HP at the time , but soon with more Power. Therefore I need the both stoopthrough to place the two Lithium/Magnesium batteries in each
hull. I hope there will still remain place over the batteries to crawl about. The amount of space on a HT is enough for efficient solar panels. Thinking about the extremly raising of fuel and diesel prices in the near future I don`t like to have classic engines.
                  Volker

Oh a mistake, not Lithium/ Magnesium batteries, but Lithium/ Mangan.

                    Dear Volker
On mine and possibly standard, the upper cotpit lockers are reasonably shallow but under that is another quite large space which people often use to fit engines.
I have considered the same as you but not using the special batteries. If you look at the spec, several times, they could be usless after 5 years in the Med heat.
I will use more standard batteries.

Pastor Simon has purchesed one of these motors and some of us are awaiting his assesment of it.

By the way I will also keep my 9.9 as it is new. The electric motors will be used mainly for manuvering in marinas etc.

                    Regards

                    Steve

I read somewhere, I can't remember where, that the stoop through was only made due to a request from an American client. But was not originally available due to the bulkhead size/location. Initially they where not going to do this but they found a way to redesign the bulkhead for this, putting in more, smaller bulkheads I believe.
Not sure of the exact details but if I find where I read it I will post the details for you.

You mentioned that Torqeedo was coming out with a more powerful motor. Do you know anything more about this?

                      #11606

                        Hi Ryan,
thank you for the information and the offer!
Some weeks ago I rang Torqeedo up,to ask for an outboard with more power. I got the information that they will produce outboards with more power in the near future, what ever that means ?He did not
like to become more precise.Perhaps one or two years.
You asked me for more details; so I sent an e-mail to
Torqeedo and asked them when the sailing community will be able to exchange their legendary
Yamaha 9.9 for a Torqeedo with ca. the same power.
Yesterday I got a call from Torqeedo that they have very big problems. The got so many orders , and now they do not have enough men-power.
There is no capacity for new designs.
By the way, I was a little bit astonished when one of the assistants asked me, what please, is a Yamaha 9.9?

                          Dear Steve,
thank you for your illustration of the stoopthroughs.
I will wait a few years hoping that the LI/MA batteries
become less expensive. The solar panels also.
But I like to sail on the North- and Eastsea first.
I am very curious to hear Pastor Simons comment !!
                          Regards
                          Volker
