      Hi Everyone!!

I need to get a pushpit (stainless steel) made for my HT26 Mk I and would appreciate any information from anyone who has had to have one made.

Also, I would like to get an aluminium sprayhood and cockpit cover support made up – has anyone had this done in the UK? If so I would really appreciate any recommendations.

      Merry Christmas!!

Sassy, cannot help with the pushpit, but you can make your own sprayhood and bimini support. Its easy(ish). My wife and I made our first one which lasted for 15 years. That was in 18mm Aluminium tube and was easy to bend, however it was never very strong so we have just replaced it with 22mm Stainless tube, also bent up by ourselves and joined with off-the-shelf fittings. It is very strong. This is being covered by the local sailmaker at the moment. If you can wait a couple of weeks, I will take a photo and mail it to you. We incorporated all the lessons learnt over the years, copied the best ideas from other folks and believe we have a really good compromise between all the competing factors. I purchased tubes and fittings from Seascrew in Eastbourne, Sussex at very reasonable prices (a fraction of UK chandlery rates anyway!). Go to http://www.marine-hardware.com or sales@seascrew.com

          Hi David,

Thanks for the information – I will check out the website now – I need the work done before June of next year when I am planning to go to the Caribbean. I appreciate your offer of the photos and would be very interested in seeing them. I also want to make the best decision before I make the trip and am lucky to have the benefit of your experience! Hi Yann,

The pushpit is the stainless steel rail at the back of the boat that the guardrail connects to.

My boat does not have one so when I go to do anything at my stern I do not have anything to hold on to.

Hi Sassy, I made several sets of Stainless Steel pushpits for my Mk3 HT a few years ago and still have some sketches somewhere of them. The main things to ensure is that you consider the swing of the external rudder bar/tiller arms and that you try to use the moulded feet positions on the deck (I think the Mk1 also had these?). If you stop by the office I will try to sort out the detail or we could take a look on board your boat – our local stainless steel fabricator could make them up for you quite easily. Regards Mark

                    Thanks Mark,

That is a great help and I will come by the office when I am next over.

                      Dear Sassy

When we were fitting out Ocean Swan we used an excellent Stainless man in Fareham. I will try to see if I can find his name and number. I expect Mark can give recommendations too if you need them. Good luck, and Happy Christmas!

Thanks Chrissie, Fareham is close to me so that would be excellent!

                        Happy Christmas to you both.

                                        Hello Sassy
As I sent quite some people info (pictures) of our sprayhood I can't recall if I have sent them to you too. I did not make it myself. It is made of 38mm aluminium.
