I have an HT27 with the genoa and main tracks on the aft cabin roof. The genoa track is 'reasonably' easily adjustable when reefing but adjusting the main requires me to climb out on the aft cabin roof. Bearing in mind the relativley small size of the main, is it worth adjusting it to windward/leeward? If so, how do others do it?
Also I want to set an inner foresail, has anyone got a size for it? I plan initially to cut down an old no.2 jib until I have planned a self tacking system.
Thanks.

17th October 2006 at 9:14 am #11333Hi Juup – yes I did – did you get my reply? How did you get back from Texel, we had 30 knots on the way back. But good old Muddy Paws looked after us.
The sizes of your jib would be really useful. I'm going to cut down an old no.2 to see if it helps.
Does anyone else have an adjustable main sheet track – and if so, is there any point in adjusting it?
p.s. Juup has an incredible sprayhood frame – worth putting pictures on the forum. His cabin doors are a work of genius as well, I wish I had the skill to copy them, absolutely amazing.
17th October 2006 at 5:30 pm #11335I've tried to upload a picture but without success so far. I've sent Sassy the pictures over the mail.
The cabindoor is made our of 15mm plexiglass in tho parts that folds in thwo pieces to starboard.
Simple, and lets in a lot of light.

4th December 2006 at 8:25 pm #11338Hi Juup, I am a newcomer to this site hence the delayed response. Moving the mainsheet along the track to keep the effort “up and down” (or as near as possible) below the boom is important to control and induce twist in the main and hence maintain the most efficient aerofoil. This will be evident if you have tell-tales on the leach, is important in all cuts of main but has the highset effect when the sail is fully battened and high roached, (as in most cats). (Essential reading: C A Marchaj, Sailing Theory and Practice).

5th March 2007 at 7:48 pm #11341Hi All
I’ll soon be putting in a roller furling Genoa with a reefing point so that I can use it as a jib for better windward sailing. For this I will need to put tracks on the cabin roof somewhere.
I really have no idea how this would need to be set up. Has anyone done this? Do I need tracks? If anyone has photos this would be excellent.I’ve got a track on the aft cabin roof for the main it seems to help a bit but then I’m still learning how to use it. It uses a trolly with lines attached so you don’t have to climb on the aft cabin roof to adjust. If you would like photos of this let me know.

6th March 2007 at 10:50 am #11342Hi Simon,
Just seen your post re adjustable main sheet track. I too have a 27 and thought they would all have been the same. Mine is adjustable via a pully system that can be a bit stiff but is easier if the main is freed off a bit first. It does seem to make a difference in achieving a good slot betweem main and genoa, especially to windward. I will try and send you a photo via email.
Regards.Pete

No uploading problems then.
